The windows are mounted in CF (ConFlat) flanges to form the view port assembly and are available in a variety of sizes to meet the customer’s particular vacuum system requirements.
The two coupling flanges have a protruding sharp edge which cuts into the softer metal of the gasket, providing an extremely leak-tight, metal-to-metal fastening which achieves an ultra-high vacuum seal.
KF and ISO components are normally restricted to temperature exposure by the limits of the O-rings used for the flange seal where as CF (ConFlat) flanges allow bake-out up to ranges of 250°C to 400°C.
Helium leak testing is typically performed down to partial pressures of 10-14 levels.
Increased vacuums can also be tested as required.
