Glass to Metal Seals
Tubular glass-metal seals of the Kovar-Pyrex type are produced in a range of sizes from 1/8″ to 6″. The glass to metal seal is a matched seal in which kodial glass is sealed directly to an iron-nickel-cobalt alloy (Kovar) tube having a similar coefficient of expansion, a graded seal then being fabricated to Pyrex glass. Extended seals are also produced with a quartz termination and non-standard diameters are available by forming the 'Kovar' sleeve from sheet material. Seals can also be supplied, welded into vacuum flanges.
